This is a top notch hunt that we have developed with a well established and reputable outfitter in Uruguay. Tucked between Argentina and Brazil, this wonderfully rural and friendly little country provides some of the finest “Hot Barrel Dove Shooting", classic Perdiz over Brittany spaniels and fabulous duck hunting in the world. We have two different areas to hunt, both with exceptional accommodations.
At the southern camp, better known as Estancia Ninette we have truly outstanding world class hot barrel dove hunting. Don’t be surprised to shoot 2 or more flats of shells on a morning or afternoon on a dove shoot! There is also top quality perdiz hunting in the area and this challenging little bird is a delight to hunt for anyone that loves the upland hunt. Beautifully trained Brittany spaniels seem to be continually scenting, working and flushing these gamey little birds. You can expect to have 30 or more flushed in a two hour hunt. The estancia sits on the banks of the Rio Negro and is a beautiful modern facility with all the comforts.
Farther north, near the city of Salto we have a second area that is noted for fabulous duck hunting along with dove and perdiz. Here we stay at a four star resort with all the amenities. The duck hunting is in an area along the Rio Uruguay that is known for rice growing and provides the habitat that the 11 species of ducks that winter in area. From Silver teal and Rosy-billed pochard to White-faced whistling ducks and South American Pintail, there is a wonderful variety of species unique to South America to experience. After duck hunting in the mornings you have the choice of dove or perdz hunting in the afternoon. For those of you that are keen anglers there is also a chance to take in an afternoon of Golden Dorado fishing! These fierce brilliantly colored members of the salmon family are one of the strongest fighting fish in the world and there is world class fishing for them in the Rio Uruguay downstream from a power dam not too far away.
We have developed both 5 and 6 day hunts for either camp or a trip that combines stops at both for a real flavor of Uruguay hunting. These trips are run between May and August, during the open seasons for duck and perdiz. Dove trips can be booked at anytime during the year. Dove hunting is fairly consistent throughout the year but January to April is most popular.
